2024 Digital Printer Award Winner

We are delighted that Bakers have won the ‘Closing the Skills Gap’ award at the Digital Printer Awards 2024.

The awards ceremony, held in Park Lane, London brought together print companies from across the UK to celebrate excellence in the industry. Representing Bakers on the night were Tom Baker (Finance and Development) and Olivia McLaughlin (Senior PR & Marketing Assistant), who proudly accepted the award on stage. A huge thank you to HP for hosting us at their table and making the evening even more special.

This award seeks to recognise companies that have demonstrated consistent/sustained excellence in recruitment and staff development, progression and retention through apprenticeships, on-the-job or other training or through other policies/processes in any capacity within the organisation.

The Digital Printer Awards

At Bakers, we pride ourselves on our commitment to developing our team and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. This year, we’ve taken significant strides in our training programmes to ensure all staff receive the support, guidance, and on-the-job experience they need to succeed.

The judges said, “This was one of the hardest categories, but the long-term commitment to engaging the younger generation meant this company stood out.”

In January, we introduced tailored staff objectives, allowing employees and managers to identify areas for growth and improvement together. Since then, we’ve achieved:

  • Over 270 objectives set and pursued.
  • 440 hours of ad-hoc training delivered.
  • 326 evaluations of staff abilities completed.

The Bakers Academy also remains a cornerstone of our training initiatives, offering new staff a comprehensive introduction to our processes and the business as a whole.

We are so thrilled to have won this this award for the work we do with our apprentices and training academy at Bakers.
A massive thank you to our amazing apprentices and the team – we couldn’t have done it without you. It’s all about helping people grow and start their careers, and this just shows what we can achieve together.
