Bakers proudly supports local charity SNAP’s SIBS4FUN event
SNAP charity a local Brentwood charity that covers Essex County Council, Thurrock and Southend local authorities. They provide support, compassion, guidance and hope to families whose children (aged 0-25 years) have additional needs or disabilities. Bakers has been supporters of SNAP since 2017 and following our summer Bakers Foundation donations, have now donated almost £75,000 to the charity.
What is the SIBS4FUN event?
Circus of Support
This year, 46 siblings attended the event. Many siblings over 13 years old chose to volunteer, which gave them valuable life experience and the opportunity to continue to be a part of SIBS.
Highlights
As you can see from this photo, Liv and I fully embraced the circus theme during our visit to SNAP last week. The event truly benefits the families and siblings who participate. The highlight for me was hearing the children share the happiness the week had given and seeing the confidence and friendships grow among them.
I visited SNAP on the last day of the event. After speaking with Karen Boath (CEO), I was surprised to learn that many of these children were very shy on the first day. It was amazing to see them doing karaoke with us by the end!
SIBS4FUN is one of the most important weeks on the SNAP calendar and this year was no exception. The siblings live particularly challenging lives, especially during the summer holidays when they have to care for their brothers and sisters and have very little opportunity to go out and have fun themselves. Please see below feedback we have already received for the week:
“They have loved this week! They have spoken non-stop about all the things they have done, from the fun activities to the food, and the freedom. We have seen the ‘old M’ back this week – they have been allowed to be themselves and their own person without needing to make allowances and sacrifices to support their brother. They have been more relaxed at home, and I feel more connected to them then I have been in a while. The week has been invaluable for my child and for me too! Thank you for choosing them to be a part of this week and for providing them with this wonderful opportunity.”
