Baker Self Adhesive Label Company Limited have become the first company in London
to install the HP Indigo WS4050 Digital Label Press.
This forward thinking company have realised the huge potential of digital printing
in the label market, where runs are getting shorter and the number of variants keep
increasing.
“We identified from the offset that a colour consist environment was required, so we
knew we required a high spec colour management system that worked well with the
HP Indigo, that is why we opted for Esko Kaleidoscope system” said Neil Marchant,
Prepress Manager.
The digital investment also includes the purchase of the Omega Digicon from
A B Graphic International.
“We decided that the only way to do this was to buy the best and not hold back in any
way” said Steve Baker, Managing Director. “This is an incredibly exciting time for us –
digital is here to stay and the quality and versatility of the HP are unrivalled”.

Bakers have been established for over 33 years and have a vast wealth of experience
in the label industry.
The company does boast a wide range of equipment including a rare 4 colour reel to
reel silkscreen, 3 Nilpeter Uv Flexo presses, printing up to 8 colours, letterpress and hot
foil, so the HP Indigo will certainly help Bakers provide the full package.
“Following the decision to purchase the HP Indigo it was important to receive the
correct level of training and support for our staff. HP have provided this with a very
intense two week course held in Maastricht, Holland followed by good post
implementation on site backup”. Said Martin Bay, General Manager.
The inclusion of the Digicon finishing, which includes rotary hot foil, uv varnishing,
overlaminating and die-cutting will ensure a high quality finish to the high quality
labels.
Also included is an offline sheeter which will enable the company to supply sheets as
well as reels.
